Chaos Terrain
- Mars Chaos Terrains
The list of areas of chaos terrain officially named by the International Astronomical Union on the planet Mars. Chaos terrain (or chaotic terrain) is an astrogeological term used to denote planetary surface areas where features such as ridges, cracks, and plains appear jumbled and enmeshed with one another.
Mountain
- Mars Mountains
The list of all named mountains on Mars. Most Martian mountains have a name including one of the following astrogeological terms: Mons (large, isolated, mountain; may or may not be of volcanic origin; plural Montes - mountain range), Tholus (small dome-shaped mountain or hill; plural Tholi - group of small mountains), Dorsum (long low range; plural Dorsa), Patera (dish-shaped depressions on volcano peaks; not very high compared to diameter; plural Paterae).
Canyon
- Mars Canyons
The list of chasmata on Mars. A chasma is a deep, steep sided, elongated depression similar to a canyon on Earth.
Valley
- Mars Valleys
Vallis (pl. Valles) on Mars are similar to valley on Earth. Some features that take this title may be better described as canyons or chasmata.
Crater
- Mars Craters
The list of craters on Mars. Impact craters on Mars larger than 1 km (0.62 mi) exist by the hundreds of thousands, but only about one thousand of them have names.
Region
- Mars Regions
The list of regions on Mars given the name Terra (pl. Terrae). Most cover large, rugged areas, often including outflow channels, craters, and chaos terrains.
Quadrangle
- Mars Quadrangles
The surface of Mars has been divided into thirty cartographic quadrangles by the United States Geological Survey. Each quadrangle is a region covering a specified range of latitudes and longitudes on the Martian surface.
Canal
- Mars Canals
The list of Martian canals from the erroneous belief in the late 19th and early 20th centuries that "Martian canals" existed on the surface of the red planet.
Dune Field
- Mars Dune Fields
The list of dune fields not on Earth which have been given official names by the International Astronomical Union. The relevant descriptor term is Unda (pl. Undae).
Plain
- Mars Plains
The list of plains on Mars. Such features are named after the nearest classical albedo feature in compliance with the International Astronomical Union's rules of planetary nomenclature. Plains may be named denoted "planitia" or "planum", depending on height.
